The circus has come to town! When the children of this rural, middle American municipality hear about it, they practically BEG their parents to go. Their parents, mostly good, working-class folks, are more than happy to oblige them, especially if it gets them some peace for a few hours. But the thin veneer of revelry seems to be hiding shifty eyes and dark looks. When the kids discover one of their number is missing, they take it upon themselves to find him.
